About ASAB

Northwest Education Access is seeking 6 new members to join the Alumni & Student Advisory Board (ASAB) for at least a one-year term.

ASAB exists to ensure that the voices, ideas, and needs of students and alumni are heard and included in decisions that shape Northwest Education Access’ work. Members collaborate with staff, the Board of Directors, and peers to strengthen our mission.

Stipend:
$350 per quarter (Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer)

Commitments & Expectations

ASAB members must commit 15 hours per quarter and be able to:

Attend Required Events & Meetings

  • ASAB Orientation – October 9, 2025 (Tukwila, WA, 5:30–8:30 PM)

  • 12 monthly meetings (some in-person with hybrid option, some fully virtual): Oct 16, 2025; Nov 13, 2025; Dec 11, 2025; Jan 15, 2026; Feb 12, 2026; Mar 12, 2026; Apr 23, 2026; May 14, 2026; Jun 18, 2026; Jul 16, 2026; Aug 13, 2026; Sep 17, 2026.

  • Fall Kickoff – October 23, 2025 (Beacon Hill, WA, 6:30–8:30 PM)

  • Advocacy Day training – Date TBD

  • Sound Reengagement Collaborative meeting – January (Date TBD)

  • Advocacy Day in Olympia – January 29, 2026 (8:00 AM–3:00 PM)

  • Summer Kickoff – Date TBD

Additional commitments include, but may not be limited to:

  • At least one Board of Directors meeting

  • At least one fundraising event

  • One student & alumni engagement event per quarter

  • Serve on internal committees (e.g. hiring, events, anti-racist team, etc)

  • Create interactive social media content and connect with our students and alumni

  • Meeting with students and alumni to collaborate and collect feedback

eligibilty

Applicants must:

  • Provide 2 letters of recommendation

    • One from your Education Advocate - just ask at least one week in advance—they already have the link to submit it.

    • One from a mentor, teacher, supervisor, or friend - upload it to the form below

  • Submit a completed application by Monday, September 15, 2025

  • Be currently enrolled in or a graduate of a Northwest Education Access program

  • Be committed to uplifting student and alumni voices in organizational decisions

  • Be able to commit 15 hours per quarter to ASAB responsibilities

  • Have a strong interest in leadership, collaboration, project management, and networking

  • Be committed to balancing ASAB responsibilities alongside work, school, and personal obligations

  • Be comfortable communicating effectively, listening, observing, and providing input on engagement opportunities, including participation in social media outreach
