Topic 2: Following-Up on Supporting Undocumented Communities Workshop
The collaborative took some time at our February Meeting to follow up on the workshop that was facilitated by Scholar Fund last month on supporting undocumented communities in our programs. We had small group conversations surrounding best practices we are seeing or have implemented since the workshop and opportunities for the Sound Reengagement Collaborative to continue supporting providers and students during this time.

⭐️ Here is a summarized document of small group notes that share promising practices that our SRC providers have began to implement. This document is editable, and our SRC partners are welcome to continue adding and revisiting this document as needed: Supporting Undocu Communities: SRC Promising Practices.
Topic 3: Centralized Diversion Workshop by Building Changes
Julius Henrichson from Building Changes joined us for the last half of the meeting to share a workshop on the Centralized Diversion Model to prevent youth homelessness in our state. Some key takeaways include:
The Spirit of Diversion is a person-centered and strengths-based approach that assists an individual or household to quickly secure a permanent or temporary housing solution outside of the homeless response system.
All SRC providers and trusted adults can support in diversion conversations. The relationship you hold with a young person is already a valuable piece in supporting in finding a creative housing solution.
Diversion conversations are creative conversations to explore housing opportunities people may have outside of the homeless housing system.
Utilizing a tool like an Eco Map can assist in diversion conversations with youth.
Julius also shared Building Changes’ HPDF and YDIP Projects that are in King and Pierce Counties. All SRC providers are invited and encouraged to attention an upcoming training so you can become certified to access either the HPDF or YDIP funds to support your participants in their creative housing solutions.
